Road to Damascus

Jesus was born of a virgin named Mary. (This was God’s son). Jesus performed many miracles and He taught people to repent and that if they believed in him they would have eternal life.

Jesus was accused of blasphemy and he suffered and died on the cross for the sins of the world. The apostles and 500 others witnessed Jesus resurrection and ascension into heaven.

Saul was a Jewish rabbi, he was one of the people that began persecuting the Christian believers and he was involved in some of their killings.

Saul hunted Christians down and had them put in jail. Saul went to Damascus, when he came near the city, a bright light from heaven suddenly shined around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, ” Saul, Saul ! Why are you persecuting me?”

Saul said, ” Who are you Lord?” The voice answered, ” I am Jesus, The one you are persecuting. Get up now and going to the city. Someone there will tell you what you must do.”

The men traveling with Saul just stood there speechless, they heard the sound but did not see anyone. Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing.
So they lead him by the hand into Damascus. For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.

In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. In a vision the Lord said to him, “Ananias!” Ananias answered, ” Here I am Lord.” The Lord said to him, ” Get up and go to the street called straight straight. Find the house of Judas and ask him for a man named Saul from the city of Tarsus. He is there now praying. He has seen a vision in which a man named Ananias came and laid hands on him so that he could see again. ”

But Ananias answered,” Lord many people have told me about this man. They told me about the many bad things he did to your holy people in Jerusalem. Now he has come here to to Damascus . The leading priests have given him the power to arrest all people who trust in you.”

But the Lord Jesus said to Ananais, “Go ! I have chosen Saul for an important work. I want him to tell other nations, the rulers, and the people of Israel about me. I will show him all that he must suffer for me.”
Acts 9:1-18

This is such an amazing story of a man who was totally against Christians (people that believed that Jesus is the Messiah .) When Saul met Jesus on the road to Damascus (after his resurrection), Saul had a total conversion !!!

Saul started telling everyone about Jesus, that He was the son of God ! Saul spent his whole life preaching to others about The Lord, he was persecuted, put in jail twice and it was believed he died a Martyr’s death for boldly telling others about Jesus !!  He was responsible for writing 13 books in the New Testament.
